We come here every year at least twice. Never been disappointed! The food is awesome and the service can't be beat! I highly recommend eating breakfast here!

My family and I go to this restaurant every time we’re on the beach! My grandfather used to come here every single morning with the “old guy gang” we called it... loved the owner Rufus and his son Patrick. It will always be a special place for me and my family, hands down. One of THE BEST breakfast spots on the beach!

Nice little gem. I had the shrimp and grits twice in 3 days. Other food was very large portions for the money. Son never complained about either of his meals.

For OBX, this is one of the best restaurants around. Been going for over 20 years. Though decor has changed, the food is consistently good and the prices are very good. Nothing fancy, but everything is done right. A lot of locals go here, so no frills. People are friendly.

We walked in and were seated very quickly, but after we were seated we waited 15 minutes and a waitress never came to our table to take our drink or food order so we got up and walked out. They also were not busy at all and they appeared to have plenty of staff but noticed two of them on there phones instead of taking care of the tables. I will say that I have been once before and had no issue and the food was good which is why I wanted to go back but not sure I will now.

Food was good. Service was great. Staff was very friendly. They had lots of business on a Sunday morning, but they handled it very well. Would love to give this place a 5 but the restaurant is not very well kept and could use some renovations. Overall my husband and I enjoyed our take out very much.

The food, the staff, the customers are all the best. Every year it’s the first thing my husband wants to do. We try and come every other week all summer.Thanks for being one of the best parts of OBX.

The French toast was phenomenal. The grits were good, the biscuits and gravy weren't quite to my liking but that is purely a preference thing. A very nice local vibe; very laid back.

A pleasant 'classic American Diner' experience. We had a friendly server and got breakfast for lunch. I had their special 'poor man's eggs Benedict' which was a biscuit with sausage gravy topped with eggs. I got scrambled. Hash browns or grits were the sides. The hash browns were good but even better with hot sauce. The prices were good and I could definitely see myself going back. Highly recommended!

Staff was really friendly and the food was delicious. Especially my shrimp and grits. Unfortunate we didn’t get to go back before the end of our trip. My toddler really enjoyed the French toast too.

Grits Grill is amazing! It was hands down the best meal we had while on vacation. We came at breakfast and the line was out the door but they were fast and we only waited 15 minutes. Server was phenomenal, prices were good and they had the best corned beef hash I have had in a long time. This is our new breakfast spot when traveling to OBX. Can’t say enough good about it!!!!!!

Always good food, great service, food comes out quick. Always enjoy sitting at the counter to eat and watching the cooks cook.

Had a whirlwind trip through the Outer Banks and enjoyed our only bfast here! Had spinach, mushroom and egg bfast burritos and grits. While everything was delicious, less salt should be used in the preparation, especially for the,many who are on low sodium diets. People can always add salt. The decor was cute and the service was tremendous! Get there early as it sure gets busy!

Freaking great omelette plenty of food for the price

Same owners as the Dunes Restaurant means the same great food all season without the long wait. Sausage gravy with biscuits and grits are my go to. But their bacon egg and cheese biscuits are also to die for. Highly recommend!

Hubby really like the Sunday special which happened to be fried chicken, mashed potatoes/gravy, collards, sweet mashed tomato side, sweet potato muffin. Reasonable prices. Waitress attentive.

Grits Grill is AMAZING. Spring, Summer, Winter or Fall they run like a well oiled machine. The menu is perfect, the food is hot and fresh, and the service is great! If I'm alone I love to sit at the counter and watch them prepare breakfast like it's nothing. I was so wrapped up in eating I forgot to share a picture of the delicious waffles with y'all!

Biscuits are DELICIOUS. Love that they open early so we could get on the road for traveling home. Got a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit. Once again, the biscuits are ridiculously amazing. Can't wait to go back and try something else. Go here, you won't regret it.

Excellent grits. Hard to find good grits but Grits Grill nails it. Service was great and the food excellent. We were seated quickly and food arrived quick after ordering. Great place even in strip mall.

Friendly staff. Had corn beef hash, biscuit and grits. Best corn beef hash I’ve had. Extra Large biscuits, coffee is tasty and hash browns had lots of flavor. Will definitely return.

They have gone down hill! I ordered their special avocado Turkey wrap. When I bit it it was dry. So I asked for mayo since there was not any type of sauce. I unwrapped it to find lettuce, maybe three thin slices of Turkey, three minute slices of avocado, a few sprinkles of cheese and some tomato. All lettuce and no flavor. For $8.99. My husband got a cheese steak that he said was not as good as it has been. We are locals so do know this establishment. Not happy at all. And will not be back. We saw people leaving half their food on their plate. What is going on? It was not busy, just tasteless food. Maybe twenty shreds of cheese on the whole wrap! 9.00 for a tortilla and lettuce. Really?

We ate here for breakfast, had the chicken fried steak. Classic diner. The food was really good, and so was the service, even though they were packed. Great place. I'd eat here again.

Quaint 50s style diner with great food. Pop in for a quick bite and leave full. The people are friendly and coffee is fresh.

I cannot rate the food only the people. Granted they were busy for a Sunday morning but there is a way to talk and treat people. It was very windy and raining sideways. We had one young lady getting ready to seat us when the older lady told us we needed to wait outside in the rain until they cleared the table.(not in a friendly tone) Only when we said no thank you we're leaving did she say we could wait in the car until they paged us. Not happening. Had she the conversation with "I apologize but we are very busy can you wait on your car and we will page you when your table is ready" that would have been acceptable. The manager may need to have a class on customer service, and stress the importance of word of mouth advertising.

I love this place. A true diner experience. Comfortable, friendly, and delicious food. One of the best breakfasts on the Outerbanks, by far. Hannah took great care of me, keeping my coffee cup full.It might not appeal to everyone, but if you like your eggs sunny side up, they do a great job with that 😃

Went to get me a bagel for breakfast and they were closed. Stopped by to eat here for the first time and found it to be pretty good. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was tasty. Had a good selection to choose from. Wanted to try the French toast but got an omelet instead.

The biscuits were buttery; we couldn't stop eating them. The hashbrowns had the right amount of onion, although I should've asked them to make them crispy like I like. Not their fault. The sausage gravy had just the right amount of pepper. Most places put just a bit too little. It smothered an excellent chicken fried steak. The shrimp and grits were excellent except, strangely, the shrimp. It was obviously cocktail shrimp from a can - in the OBX, you would've expected something more local and fresher. Over all, I would highly recommend this place.

Cute diner experience. Big portions, but the quality of the food was just average. The Monte Cristo was good, but the biscuit was dry and cakey, not flaky and buttery. The grits were homemade but a bit bland. The juice was from concentrate.

The atmosphere reminds me of an old time diner. There was a bit of a long wait for larger tables but as a two top we got in pretty quick, under 10 mins. The food was delicious. I got shrimp and grits. There was a lot of flavor and had a large portion size. I definitely did not leave hungry.

Very friendly atmosphere, clean and very quick service. Food came out in maybe 10-15 minutes after ordering. The egg breakfast with biscuit, grits and bacon was awesome. We added French toast to share on the side...tasted like funnel cake. Coffee was good too. Best biscuits I have had in years, besides my mom's. I would be a regular here if I lived close by for sure.

Just left...over charged and my wife and I are heading back to hotel. Stomachs in pain...BEWARE!
